Kitchen Cabinet Painting with Modern White Cabinets and Dark Island

This project in Central Calgary featured a full kitchen cabinet painting in professional spray coatings, as well as a new size and style of hardware for the door and drawer pulls. This client wanted a simple refresh to their kitchen, adding a rich dark accent colour to the island and larger, more contemporary handles, making the space feel a little more modern and vibrant.

Project Details

The homeowner wanted to update their kitchen without a full renovation. The goal was to create a more modern and vibrant look while keeping the existing cabinet layout.

We professionally spray painted the perimeter cabinets in Simply White by Benjamin Moore. This colour offers a bright, clean appearance with a subtle warmth that works well in most lighting conditions.

For contrast, the island was finished in Soot by Benjamin Moore. This deep, almost-black shade features rich blue undertones, adding depth and visual interest to the space.

To complete the transformation, we installed new door and drawer hardware. The updated handles are larger and more contemporary in style, helping tie the entire look together.

The Outcome

The finished kitchen feels brighter, more modern, and more engaging without a major renovation. The contrast between the white cabinets and dark island creates a strong focal point, while the new hardware adds a polished, contemporary touch. The homeowner achieved a refreshed space that feels both stylish and functional.
